Sharing of my part-timer investor's strategy, I would recommend buying in smaller increments over a longer period of time when buying a stock. Decide the maximum amount of exposure to a stock you want up front and then build your position slowly over a longer period of time. That way you can take advantage of any dips and you are still invested with a small amount if the market decides to continue to rise.
