Gold prices fell back on Monday. Although the geopolitical situation earlier provided safe-haven buying support for gold prices, gold prices once rose to a new one-week high of US$2,666.70 per ounce. However, as the US dollar rebounded to a ten-week high, gold prices gave up their gains. It closed slightly lower at $2,648.49 per ounce.
